Mango Lassi

The first time I tried a mango Lassi I was hooked. The simplicity of the composition concentrates the flavors in a wonderful experience.  This is not the only benefit to it either, besides being healthy it is super simple to make.

To make a great mango Lassi, you need a blender, a spoon and a knife. That is all! Oh and also you need a super ripe mango. No, not the one with a little tang, it is the one you would not want to eat alone. Maybe we should call it an over-ripe mango.

It is preferable that it is non fibrous, but all this will do is give you an extra step: blending and straining the mango juice.

But if you got the right type of mango here is what you need for Lassi:

  • 1 small ripe mango
  • 4 – 5 Tbsp yogurt
  • 50 ml milk (more if your yogurt is thick)

Peel and cut the mango in small pieces. Add all the ingredients to the blender, mix and pour.

Your job is done. The texture should not be too liquid, but rather viscous. you should be able to drink it and scoop it without it spilling. Basically it should be like a milk shake.  Adjust the milk quantity based on the thickness of your yogurt.

You can also experiment with other fruits like berries, kiwis, bananas… It is always a healthy drink. The sweeter the fruit you choose, the better because then you would not be compelled to add sugar.

It can be used as a snack or an accompanying drink to a spicy meal or any meal really. It is a great, fun way to integrate fruits and some protein into your diet.

  1. So basically this is like the fruit smoothies I make, only there is less yogurt and a little milk added. I will definitely try this one as mangoes are one of my favorite fruits. Thanks for posting another favorite Viviane!
